Amtrak offers private room accommodations on many routes across the country. Located in the Sleeping Car, a private room is the perfect option for customers seeking privacy and space on a short trip and added comfort and amenities when traveling overnight. When you book travel in a sleeping car, you’ll be entitled to a range of amenities and extras.

Sample 6-Day Itinerary (Roundtrip from Chicago or Seattle)
Day 1 – Depart Your Home City
- Depart on Amtrak’s Empire Builder® from Chicago, Seattle, Portland, or another connecting city.
- Overnight onboard the train (coach or private sleeper, depending on your package).
Scenic highlights include the Mississippi River Valley, Big Sky Country, and the Rocky Mountains.
Day 2 – Arrive at Glacier National Park
- Arrival at East Glacier Park or West Glacier station, located steps from the park entrance.
- Transfer to your historic lodge or hotel (often Glacier Park Lodge or a nearby park hotel).
- Free time to explore the lodge grounds or relax after your journey.
Day 3 – Guided Glacier National Park Tour
- Full‑ or half‑day sightseeing tour of Glacier National Park.
- Typical inclusions:
- Going‑to‑the‑Sun Road motorcoach tour (seasonal, usually mid‑June to mid‑September)
- Wildlife viewing and photo stops
- Ranger or local guide narration

Day 4 – Two Medicine Valley Experience
