Additional Information

Day 1 - Arrive Aurangabad Explore the Ellora Caves

Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred by private car to the 5-star Taj Residency. In the afternoon, your private sightseeing tour explores the spectacular cave temples of Ellora. Carved between AD 600 and AD 1000, these 34 rock-cut monasteries and temples were carved side by side into a basalt cliff, extending more than 1.2 miles. The Ellora Caves not only bear witness to three great religions (Buddhism, Brahminical Hinduism and Jainism), but are also a testament to the spirit of tolerance which characterized ancient India and allowed these three religions to establish their sanctuaries in a single place.

Day 2 - Excursion to Ajanta

Your full-day private sightseeing tour explores one of the world’s greatest masterpieces of religious art. The oldest of the Buddhist cave monuments at Ajanta date back more than 2,000 years, with a second principle group that was carved and decorated in the 5th and 6th centuries during the Gupta era. These groups of monuments represent two important periods of Indian history and illustrate the evolution of Indian art over the centuries. Meals B
